Mindo Tour

Mindo is world renowned as a birding destination. He was appointed the first site of importance for bird watching in Latin America in 1997 by the Bird Life International. In the site there are a variety of other activities you can perform as well as tubing, horseback riding through beautiful scenery, hiking in the forests or soaring between the trees suspended from a zipwire or 'canopy' as they are known in Mindo.

Itinerary

In the morning our guide will pick you up from the Hotel in Quito, to go along the old road to the coast to our destination Mindo. This area is famous for its beautiful scenery and for being one of the best birding areas of Ecuador. Approximately 500 species of birds can be found in this cloud forest. The area has subtropical rain forests, primary and secondary education, with heights ranging between 1,600 and 4,780 meters over sea level.

Once in Mindo cross a cable car, located at 530 meters, then visit the waterfalls, located at a approximately 5 to 10 minutes of one another and offer several opportunities for water sports.

Continuing our tour we return to town and enjoy a delicious lunch. Afternoon visit the Butterfly Garden where we will observe the process of metamorphosis and then makes a caterpillar turn into butterfly. In the butterfly can observe 25 varieties of butterflies flying in a greenhouse.

Continue our journey to Pedro Vicente Maldonado, where we surprised the unique Blue Lagoon waterfall. It is a beautiful natural setting with a heavenly landscape is formed by the Rio Negrito, has an approximate height of 25 meters and 5 meters wide giving birth to a natural swimming pool whose cause is quiet and displays a natural scene. On our way we will find hummingbirds, parrots, woodpeckers, otters, the most impressive is to see the variety and quantity of fish of all sizes, butterflies, crickets, armadillos, squirrels, black-necked buzzards, snakes, toucans, ducks, wild turkey bush, terns, herons.

Later we return to Quito in the evening.
