At the Cotopaxi Valley between Pasochoa, Rumiñahui and Sincholagua mountains, stands Santa Ana Hotel, a property that belonged to Compañia de Jesus (Jesuits), a religious community from the 1600´s, that has been fully restored to its original style.
Around the 1640´s, the Jesuits got established at this paradise on earth land at the foot of the Cotopaxi Volcano, where eruptions filled this valley with majestic volcanic rocks, reason why this place is known as El Pedregal (Valley of rocks).
The Jesuit community lived at this 60000 hectares land. As time went by, they built a house and a church, mostly made of rocks. The Jesuits were the first ones to import cattle from Lidia, later the cattle reproduced and filled the valleys of the Ecuadorian sierra.
The main reason why they brought bulls, was so that people won’t steal them or invade the land they owned. The house has the same name as the place where is located Santa Ana del Pedregal. The house was built by native workers that offered their services to the Jesuits and also took care of the property for them.
This place is considered by Catholic people to be a Sanctuary because of all the spiritual rituals and activities that went on at this place.
After the Jesuits were thrown out by King. Charles III, all the land passed on to the leaders of the Ecuadorian Independence and was later sold to very wealthy families in Ecuador.
The Hostería has 4 cozy bedrooms, furnished in a very comfortable way, each one of them with a different and unique design that offer its guests an unforgettable and exclusive experience. Three of our rooms have a private exit that leads to beautiful gardens full of flowers and old trees.
The rooms can be simple/double/triple with a king size bed or double with two twin size bed. Each room has a heater, a digital safety box, and a coffee/tea maker.
Each bedroom has its own private bathroom, hair dyer, shower cap and different amenities.
Hostería Santa Ana is located at the majestic Ecuadorian páramos in the middle of the big mountains, Rumiñahui, Pasochoa and Sincholagua, considered to be a part of the Andes.
Located at Pedregal Town, 30 minutes away from Machachi. A city where many indigenous communities reside, you will be able to find out about their culture, beliefs and different habits that have endured and evolved throughout generations.
Hostería Santa Ana is 1 hour and 30 minutes away from the city of Quito, 10 minutes from Cotopaxi National Park, 25 minutes from the Cotopaxi volcano refuge, 10 minutes from Pita River among other unique places to see.
