Quito is, without any doubts, one of the most beautiful cities in South America. Discover Quito’s beauty and the breathtaking historical center, which is, according to UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site in 1978, the best preserved one in South America. The mix of tradition and modernity brings out the unique character of Quito and makes this a place definitely worth a visit.
The Historical Center of Quito is packed with beautiful churches and plazas. The streets are cobbled and narrow and will take you back in time. A few minutes from the colonial town we can find The Bagel, a hill with as main attraction the statue of La Virgen de Quito. At the top you can enjoy a breathtaking view all over the city.
If you are a fan of heights and the view from The Bagel didn’t impress you enough, hop on a Cable Car and let it take you higher and higher. This gondola lift in Quito runs from the edge of the city center and will take you up at the east side of Pichincha Volcano. It is one of the highest aerial lifts in the world. An extraordinary panoramic view all over Cruz Loma and Quito is guaranteed!
The reserve is settled on the crater of the Pululahua, an extinct volcano that is now a peaceful valley moistened by the fog. The reserve covers an area of 13,000 hectares and has 1,200 plant species, as well as a diversity of birds, mammals and insect species.
Ciudad Mitad Del Mundo (Equator City) is a small and beautiful colonial town. It’s one of the most popular sights to visit for travelers in South America. As the name implies, this town is located at the middle of the world. At the entrance, you will find the Geodetic Avenue, which is guarded by 13 stone busts of members of the French Geodesic Mission, who visited the Ecuadorian territory in 1736. Inside this town the famous Equator Monument can be found.
